EASING GEAR PURPOSE IN SAFETY VALVE

In improved high lift safety valve

Easing gear is fitted so that in the event of an emergency the valve can be opened by hand to a full lift of 1/4D to release the boiler pressure
 

In full bore safety valve

Easing is fitted to act directly upon the main valve in order to open it in case of emergency. In addition a hand is easing lever is also fited to the control valve, enabling steam to be admitted to the operating piston of the main valve.



In full lift SAFETY valve


Easing gear is fitted so that in the event of an emergency the valve can be opened by hand in order too quickly release the boiler pressure. This gear must be arranged so that it cannot interfere with the opening of the valve under normal operating conditions when the safety valve is being overhauled, remember to check ok that the operating mechanism of the easing gear is in full working order.
