Turbocharger washing procedure

Turbocharger blower washing procedure :

• Ensure cocks 1, 2 and 3 are shut.
• First open cock 3. Uses of funnel and fill water in the cup until it is three fourth full. After this, shut the cock.
• Open cock 1 that leads to the blower side.
• Open the air cock and wait for a minute.
• Shut air cock 2.
• Shut cock 1.

The above procedure can be repeated if necessary.

Turbocharger Turbine Side Washing Procedure : 

For solid washing, the main engine RPM need not be reduced.

• Ensure cocks 4, 5 and 6 are shut.
• First open cock 6. Use a funnel and fill up grift supplied onboard, to three - fourths level. After this, shut the cock.
• Open cock 4 that leads to the turbine.
• Open the air cock 5 and wait for a minute.
• Shut air cock 5.

The above procedure can be repeated if necessary.

For water washing the turbine side, follow your company procedure, some companies do not recommend water washing.

To carry out water washing of the turbine side, bring down the main engine RPM to dead slow.

The procedure is same as for blower side water except in this case, the turbine drain cock 7 is kept open.

Dirty black water comes out from the drain cock. Water washing is carried out until clean water comes out from the drain cock.

Then all the cocks are shut.
